hola, soy emmy.

Let’s go on an adventure.

IN A RUSH? HERE’S THE CLIFF NOTES VERSION OF MY JOURNEY ⬇️

BIRTH ➡ WITCH ➡ DEATH DOULA ➡ BLOGGER ➡ PODCASTER ➡ metamorphic STORYTELLER

I am an ENTJ, a 5/1 Self-Projected Projector in Human Design, Sagittarius Sun/Virgo Moon/Libra Rising with an egregious Capricorn Stellium and Lilith in Sagittarius. I’m an Enneagram 8w7 (The MAVERICK!).

My Top 5 books are: Drawing Blood by Molly Crabapple, The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, Play It as It Lays by Joan Didion, The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion, and Coraline by Neil Gaiman.

My Top 7 horror films are: Midsommar (2019), Candyman (2021), Hellraiser (1987), Crimson Peak (2015), The Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), Us (2019), and Talk to Me (2022). However, Wes Anderson is my all-time favorite director.

Continue here if you don’t need to dash just yet!

I’ve been and embraced many vocations over the years, such as:

🌊 The specter you spot in the misty waters, whispering secrets in a long-forgotten tongue,

🔮 Often the Oracle that reveals you back to yourself,

🎙️ The figure that imparts words of wisdom in your dreamscape who manages to both make sense immediately and over time -

Well, maybe not exactly like all of that, but that’s the vibe. No matter the label or venture, they all stem from the same deep, ancient roots: healing, self-expression, and inner alchemy.

A lot of us don’t realize how much we’re living out someone else’s story. Or how we’ve adopted ways of thinking and being that are incompatible with realizing the future we envision for ourselves.

Since I started committing to the practice of living out loud and embracing my curiosity about the outer and inner worlds, I’ve felt myself become more creative, compassionate, and connected to my community. And these outcomes reinforce why my work is laser-focused on these tenets.

Gimme that full scoop, though?

You got it, dude.

My writing practice kicked off in high school, where I’ve remained particularly drawn to creative nonfiction and literary and genre fiction writing.

I’ve been a witch for as long as I can remember, and I continue to weave magic into everything I do because anything can be a spell with the right intention. I have been reading tarot since I was 16 and started Akashic Records readings in the spring of 2021.

I got certified through Earth Traditions as a Death Doula in 2015 and have come to calling myself a Death & Creativity Doula in recent years.

There’s nothing like confronting the fact that you’re going to die to make you reevaluate how you live. 🕊️

My creative practice has seriously benefited from this kind of self-reflection, even if it feels morbid to some people. I find it comforting and it pulls me back into reality. ⚓️

And of course, my podcast, The Violet Vulture, covers all of these topics and then some.

all of these roads have led toditching the people-pleasing

and committing to radical authenticity instead.

And I’m committed to helping others do the same.

I wouldn’t be where I am now without my mentors, spiritual care team, and fellow storytellers. Big changes can’t happen without the support and guidance of people who prioritize seeing and supporting you for you. In a world where stories and coaching are serving big CTRL C/CTRL + V energy and where AI has us wondering if any of us are still relevant, getting curious, showing up imperfectly, and getting to our personal and collective truths will keep us human.

Let’s be human together.

When offline

I adore Jordan Peele's imagination, Guillermo Del Toro's lush color palette, radicalism, and respect for his characters, and Clive Barker's gorgeous brutality. I love yoga (crow pose is my favorite pose), sipping spiced oat milk lattes, and cookin’ up the best burgers with my spouse.

I relish deep reds and I have a soft spot for pink.
